Since these are private parties (but it's easy to join the party) I have a short wine-tasting session before the concert. So contact me to be invited to the best entertainment value in L.A.
Shows are usually $12 artist donation ($10 for students).
Future shows are as follows:
May 14, Sunday Lui Collins, 7:00PM (6:15 wine tasting) . On Lui's 5 CDs, you will find heartfelt and deeply spiritual lyrics are joined with beautifully melodic songs. http://www.fortissimo.org/artists/collins/
June 24 Lowan and Navarro, Saturday 7:45PM (7PM for wine tasting). These McCabe headliners and L.A. favorites have been played on KSCA and now on 103.1. Great harmonies and wonderfull songs. http://www.lownav.com/
July 29, The clear and the Kennedys . Saturday 7PM (6:15 wine tasting). This is the first of a series of "two shows in one", pairing headline artists. The show is starting earlier then a usual Saturday show because each artist will play a bit longer then the normal 45 minute sets that a single artist would play (figure 50-60 minutes a piece. The gate for the night will be $16/person. The Kennedys are Falcon Ridge Mainstage stars who sold out a house concert here last year. They are back in town this weekend and agreed to do a duo-show. Pete has performed on albums by Mary Chapin-Carpenter and Nanci Griffith and with his wife Maura are an absolutely incredible duo. For more info please view thier website at http://www.kennedysmusic.com
The clear is my favorite musical "surprise" this year (and I have seen hundreds of artists. the clear is the musical project of award winning Los Angeles poet (no, that is not a contradiction in terms) Matthew Niblock and his compatriots: Orange County guitar hero (neither is that) Mark Smith & harmony sluts Jennifer Hardaway & Steve Kruse. These guys are incredible!!! http://www.otheroom.com/theclear/
August 20, The Nonchalants and Mark Davis . Sunday 7PM (6:15 wine tasting) The NonChalants are a great duo from Austin, Tx. Jean Synodinos has an amazingly powerful voice. "Good songs and a good time". http://www.thenonchalants.com
Mark Davis last CD was nominated "The Decades #1 album from Orange County by the L.A. Times. A cross between Arlo Guthrie and John Lennon, Mark is an incredible singer-songwriter. His new CD should be available for the show.
September 10, Dogwood Moon and Bright Blue Gorrilla . Sunday 7PM (6:15 wine tasting) A very special Double Bill. Dogwood Moon sold out my show in an incredible night last year. Bright Blue Gorilla are their friend and equally good. Since they have also appeared on stage as a "super group", this was a pairing to good to resist.
October 1, Greg Greeway and Tom Pasado-Rao . Sunday 7PM (6:15 wine tasting) Another very special Double Bill. Continuing the "super group" theme, these two seperate stars of the east coast, were recently seen playing together at February's Folk Alliance Convention. The are both great seperately, but together they are truly marvelous.
October 29, D2 and Renee Saffier & Andy Hill. For D2, picture Richard Shindell meets Dee Carstinson. Folk music w/voices, guitar, and harp. This couple is a treat. Renee Saffier and Andy Hill have it all: great musicianship, outstanding voices, and exceptional songs. Andy's songwriting is original, passionate, and sincere, and covers a vast lyrical landscape, bringing to mind Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Van Morrison. With acoustic guitars, piano, percussion, and perfect harmonies, they have kept audiences coming back for more.
